Hello!
Happy Monday!
And Happy March!
Here on Long Island, March is certainly staying true to its promise of entering like a lion. After a week of reprieve, the chilly winds have returned. But we know how the rest of the saying goes – out like a lamb. So there’s hope. Always hope.
Sometimes we just have to hand it over to hope. Or perhaps a better word for it is trust. Trust in the inner workings of nature, or God, the Universe – whatever you want to call it. Most of all, I think it’s important to hand that trust over to ourselves, or at least to the practice of trusting that we know what to do and how to respond to whatever comes up in the present.
And it is a practice - just as much as learning to sit and listen – we practice in that silence hearing the message our heart is telling us. We set aside the stories of the mind, even if for just a moment.
Start with the intention to listen.
Invite the body to loosen its grip.
Sit with a round of the breath.
Begin to notice what comes up.
I found myself overthinking this week. You know that feeling – where your mind keeps circling around the same decision, trying to map out every possible outcome? Yeah, that was me. Until I heard three simple words: “Don't overthink it.”
It became obvious that all I was doing was focusing on the stories in my head, and the possibilities for every outcome were taking precedence over how I felt and what I truly wanted.
So I took a pause and gave myself some space to let my heart be the guide.
And the answer I received?
“Wait”
And so I did.
I stopped thinking about it.
I stopped talking about it.
I stopped trying to force an outcome.
I stopped pretending I knew exactly how things would end up.
And then a funny thing happened…
It worked itself out.
And I realized that all that storytelling – all the time I spent playing out different scenarios in my head and with others – none of it mattered.
But that’s not actually true, now is it?
The decision I had to make was to wait. And by making that decision, it made room for the outcome. The path became clear, and I was ready for it.
Now, I’m not suggesting we all just stop everything and let the cards fall where they may. I actually don’t believe that’s what happened for me here either. I believe that when I stopped to listen, my heart told me the answer I needed to hear, and in this situation it just happened to be “wait.” It could have been different. In other scenarios it will be. Either way, I took the time to practice leaning into that trust.
Trust in my heart. Trust that I know the way that is best for myself.
I believe we all have that wisdom.
Maybe it doesn’t come up right away, but it’s there, and it speaks the loudest when we stop to notice. Just like the hum of Spring that’s slowly emerging from this long, cold Winter. When we pause, we see it. The mourning doves. The daffodil sprouts. The energy emerging from each passing day. And then even the wind doesn’t feel as cold as it did before. And we begin to feel excitement where there once was worry. We lean in. We trust.
Are you looking for some clarity with a decision you have to make? Perhaps today you set aside some time to put your trust in yourself.
Turn your attention inward and see what comes up.
If you need some help getting started, here’s a guided meditation to guide you toward a deeper connection with your authentic self. It’s an invitation to foster a relationship with who you truly are, and to build a stronger foundation rooted in confidence and comfort. I hope you enjoy it.

This is so true and so nicely written. Thanks for this it's a great reminder.
Thanks for this wonderful reflection on overthinking . Love how you found the gap between the thoughts. It creates space to simply BE out of our minds . 😊✨👌🏻
